Nortel BCM450

Nortel has upped the ante in the mid market sector (currently hot with Unified Communications Technology) with the recent release of there new IP PBX Business Communications Manager (BCM) 450. The new IP PBX system will support up to 300 users (pushing on from the current BCM400 system, which supports around 200) allowing Nortel to hone in on the ever expanding, large SMB communications market. The statistics for this market place in Europe are indeed impressive with around 60% of the market accounting for new IP PBX user solutions being delivered between 20 and 300 users.

Nortel claim that the new system can help business make cost savings of up to 70% on the original equipment investment by re-utilisating existing system parts and then by the deployment of the powerful UC technology (until recently not easily accessible to the SMB market) which will significantly boost productivity and assist in further reductions on on-going costs.

Nortel’s Amanda Giddins stated recently “The Majority of unified communications solutions to date have been focused on larger enterprise needs. Nortels new BCM450 opens up these functionalities to the small and medium-sized organisations that can derive key productivity benefits from the messaging, mobility and collaboration capabilities.”

The Nortel BCM 450 IP PBX (supporting both IP and digital terminals) is designed to slot neatly into the existing portfolio between the highly successful BCM50 and the Nortel CS (Communication Server) 1000 platforms.
